Effective 20 August 2026
In short: Sówka does not collect your data. There are no accounts and no sign-in. Everything you learn stays in your phone's storage. We have no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. We do not sell or share anything with anyone.
The data controller under the GDPR is the individual who publishes the Sówka app, trading as Persevera. Privacy contact: persevera.wsparcie@gmail.com.
Sówka keeps the following on your device. This data is never sent to us and we cannot access it, and neither can anyone else. The one exception is Android's own system backup, described below, which is under your control.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| First name (optional) | So the app can address you by name. You can skip it, or remove it in Settings. |
| Words learned, favourites, "more like this" | To know what you already know and choose what to show next. |
| Review schedule | To bring a word back at the right moment. |
| Streak, days practised, daily goal and progress | To count your streak and show how far you have come. |
| Quiz results | To calculate accuracy and achievements. |
| Achievements earned | To remember what has been unlocked. |
| Settings (light/dark, learning goal, read aloud, reminders and their time) | So the app behaves the way you set it. |
You can erase all of it at any time: choose Resetuj postępy in Settings, or simply uninstall the app, and the system removes this data along with it.
Sówka uses Android's built-in app backup. That is what allows your streak, learned words and settings to come back on their own when you switch phones and reinstall the app, without any account in our app.
This is an Android system feature, not a service we operate. Google's privacy policy applies to it.
The app connects to the internet for exactly one purpose: to download the word list from our server. That is an ordinary request for the learning content. It carries no name, no progress and no identifiers, and the response is identical for everyone. With no connection the app uses its bundled copy of the list and keeps working offline.
Like any server on the internet, ours records technical access logs when the word list is fetched: IP address, the date and time of the request, and basic system and browser information. An IP address counts as personal data under the GDPR, which is why we state this plainly.
We do not connect these logs to any person and we do not build profiles from them.
If you turn reminders on, they are scheduled locally on your device. We do not use push notifications and register no tokens, so we have no way of knowing whether or when a reminder appeared. You can withdraw notification permission in your phone's system settings or in the app's Settings.
When you share a card, the image is created on your phone and handed to the system share sheet. You choose which app receives it, and from that point that app's own privacy policy applies. We never upload the image and have no knowledge of what you do with it.
The app is not directed at children under 13. The content is suitable for a general audience, but the vocabulary covers adult topics and the intended audience is teenagers and adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children, and in fact we collect none from anyone.
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your data, and to object to processing.
In practice: your learning data lives only on your phone, so you already have full control - erase it in Settings or by uninstalling the app. Beyond that we hold only server logs, which cannot be linked to an individual because we operate no accounts. Under Article 11 GDPR we are not required to obtain additional information solely to identify you, and we do not.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Polish supervisory authority, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warsaw, uodo.gov.pl), or with the authority in your country of residence.
If we ever begin collecting more - for example by adding accounts, statistics or advertising - we will update this page and change the date at the top before that change takes effect. The version in force is always the one at this address.
